about 5 years ago, when I had just moved to berlin, i had the idea to create a DIY, punk style zine (as i had done about various topics during my formative years), but this time it would be about my current love: dance music. i didn’t want to do it all myself, i wanted to create a forum that would be interesting and informative to read, and that would attract new people to write about what they most wanted to hear about in the realm of the house/techno/etc scene. i also wanted that the people contributing were not necessarily normally scribes themselves. i wanted musicians, producers, djs, maybe even promoters, label owners, etc to be the ones talking about music. while this original idea was plagued by things like lack of contacts, lazy writers, the print medium, and my own slothfulness, the current hyper-networked world has given me no excuse to not try again.
so, in the future we will be hearing about artists favorite artists, historical stories of the past of dance music put in context by those who lived them, some occasional exclusive new works, and whatever else we can muster. and hopefully the passion of the contributors will shine through.
